Southwest Technology Centre

Today there is a growing demand for qualified simulator technicians, but there is a shortage of quality training institutions available. Southwest Technology Center in Altus, Oklahoma is home to a unique specialized education program, Flight Simulator Technology. The SimTech program at SWTC allows students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in simulation as an entry level flight simulator technician. Southwest Technology Center offers classroom and hands-on instruction in the operation, maintenance, and repair of simulator systems. The campus houses two flight simulators, an F-111 and a C-141 which are used in the maintenance training and instruction.

Job satisfaction, good pay and high demand are the motivating factors for being a flight simulator technician. As a SimTech, individuals normally work rotating shifts and in some cases need to be eligible for a security clearance. Many job opportunities are available throughout North America, Europe and International in military and civil aviation training facilities. College credits are available through Western Oklahoma State College and the American Council on Education.
