Ellis W. Sharadin,
LtCol, USAF (Retired) writes...
I took the attached
picture of my flight lead while redeploying from Incirlik AB, Turkey to Heyford sometime
around summer 1984. The sun began to set as we were crossing the French Alps and
with the layers of cloud around us, it created a pretty dramatic effect, don't you think?
The original pic was
taken with a compact 35mm camera on Ektachrome slide film, then made into a print with the
Cibachrome process. I only made 3 prints to share with squadron mates and have misplaced
the original slide sometime during my many Air Force moves, so this picture was scanned in
from a print. |

The photo was taken from the lookout
on Mt Ainslie, Canberra. The flypast was for the Australian War Memorial open day in 1999.
There is a series of shots leading up to this one, but this is best of the group.
It was taken with a Pentax Z-70, Sigma 70-210mm lens, 400 speed film, not sure exactly
what camera settings were used for this frame as I was making adjustments as the aircraft
went over, I think it was 1/90s shutter speed though.Tim Floyd |

camera. I was in the right place at the right time when I took this photo!
